Cylindrical Brass Umbrella Stand with Ring Handles and Claw Feet.
This umbrella stand takes the form of a cylindrical brass vase, with the neck and base highlighted by mouldings with concentric fillets. Two side handles with movable rings, mounted on plates, facilitate gripping. The whole rests on claw feet made of cast brass, a classic reference to the antiquarian vocabulary. This model of brass umbrella stand, robust and refined, is characteristic of the neoclassical taste of bourgeois interiors around 1900, where entrance furniture borrowed its repertoire — rings, claws, fillets — from ice buckets and Athenian designs of the First Empire. Condition report: Generally good condition. Brass with a beautiful golden patina, deep and uniform, with natural surface oxidation consistent with age. A timeless entrance accessory, also useful as a plant pot or cane holder.
