Coffee table in hammered wrought iron and marble, Jean-Maurice Rothschild – Circa 1950. A centrepiece of great uniqueness. This remarkable coffee table from the 1950s perfectly fits within the lineage of neoclassical creations and artisanal craftsmanship by Jean-Maurice Rothschild (notably famous for his designs for the ocean liner Normandie). With exceptional execution quality, this table stands out due to its significant weight, a guarantee of its robustness and the authenticity of its materials. • The top: A thick disc of white marble veined with grey (diameter 62 cm), superbly set within a wide band of hammered wrought iron. This band is punctuated with movable grip rings, adding a raw and sculptural character. • The base: A superb tripod design where three caryatids or anthropomorphic figures support the structure. They rest on curved legs made of hammered wrought iron, finished with textured spatula pads. The total width of the base on the ground is 80 cm, offering a dynamic line and perfect stability. With its clever mix of raw metal and noble marble, this table with a powerful design will find its place in a contemporary living room, a neoclassical interior, a brutalist space, or a cabinet of curiosities. Dimensions: • Height: 54 cm. • Diameter of the top: 62 cm. • Maximum footprint of the base: 80 cm. Condition: Overall in beautiful vintage condition. Superb original patina on the wrought iron. The marble top displays its natural veining. A heavy and very stable object of superb quality.
