Rare and highly distinctive wingback lounge chair designed by Miroslav Navrátil in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s. An exceptional example of early Central European modernism, combining elegant proportions with expressive bentwood construction and sculptural Art Deco influences. The chair features dramatic curved bentwood arm supports and an unusually shaped wingback silhouette, giving the piece a strong architectural presence while maintaining visual lightness. Its refined cantilevered form reflects the progressive furniture design of the interwar period. The bentwood armrests and wooden structure remain in good original condition with age-appropriate wear and surface scratches consistent with the chair’s age and use. The upholstery is original but in poor condition and the chair requires complete reupholstery. An increasingly rare collector’s piece with outstanding restoration potential.
