Strongly designed dutch design armchair. The designer. Gijs van der sluis, a mechanically trained self-taught furniture designer, started making machine parts for the cigar industry in culemborg after the second world war. Due to market demand, he also started designing and producing steel chairs. His passion for technology and high quality standards resulted in successful designs and the van der sluis steel furniture company. Some designs are still produced by his grandchildren. These copies. This model number no. 12, was intended as a low "lounge" chair, a low-sitting, well-made and comfortable piece of seating furniture. Its heavy solid steel frame and fine armrests make it a piece of furniture that really radiates quality. The original caps on the legs are still present, these ensure a flat and stable placement on the surface. The frames of these examples have been completely repainted in black, the armrests are also in this color, which we also found before the start of the restoration. A completely new filling has been chosen for the seat and backrest as well as a beautiful first-class timeless furniture fabric. This fabric has a beautiful bouclé effect and is available in red and brown tones. These armchairs are exceptionally beautiful in design and execution, strong dutch design that can be used daily and is also very solid in quality. Timelessly beautiful design!
