Gerbino vase in mosaic of colored earths

Jean Gerbino was born in Sicily in 1876 into a family of potters. He settled in Vallauris at the beginning of the 20th century. In the 1920s, he perfected his technique of colored earth mosaic (neriage in Japanese). The secret of his technique has been passed down from generation to generation. His great-granddaughter perpetuates his know-how in her Vallauris workshop. The vase had a small defect on the top of the neck. It was restored by a professional ceramic restorer (Cerami'k Sophie Jehan workshop). See last photo. The vase should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Avoid leaving it submerged in water.
