Born in Padua, Italy, in 1926, Frattini studied architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan, where he was influenced by important Italian design figures of the time, such as Gio Ponti and Franco Albini. After graduating in 1953, Frattini quickly got his start as an independent designer. He has worked with several renowned companies, including Cassina, Arteluce, and Acerbis International, contributing to the creation of many iconic furniture and lighting fixtures. Frattini was renowned for his clean, functional style, combining elegant lines with high-quality materials to create timeless pieces. Among his most famous creations are the "832" armchair for Cassina, the "Boby" table lamp for Artemide, and the "Clio" modular bookcase for Bernini. His work has been widely recognized internationally, with exhibitions at renowned design museums such as MoMA in New York and the Triennale in Milan. Gianfranco Frattini has left a lasting legacy in the world of design, with his work continuing to influence generations of designers to come. He died in 2004, but his impact on contemporary design remains undeniable.
