Description
This vintage goblet is made of silver metal. Dating from the 1930s, it is a pretty timpani monogrammed with the initials db. The baptism timpani is a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in the mouth). The timpani, this water goblet was one of the rare objects of goldsmithing and constituted a safe haven, passed on to the protégé. This present could be accompanied by an egg cup, a spoon or a napkin ring. The child will keep all his life this present and will use it every day. It bears the "jm" "6g" hallmark and measures 7.2 cm in height X 7cm in diameter. In good general condition, I note dents, traces of oxidation and scratches of use. The interior shows significant wear.
