Rare mid-century rosewood flip top desk, designed and produced by peter løvig nielsen (1929-2007), denmark, 1968 (date bottom drawer). The elongated block on top of the desktop can be turned around, creating a larger desk for two people (partner desk). The rotating block is attached to the main top with beautiful copper hinges. The desk has a rosewood veneer finish and a solid wooden base. There are four drawers on the front with beautifully designed handles. Top piece marked with sticker lovig danish design. (the design is also often attributed to jens quistgaard 1919-2008) Condition: good vintage condition with minor signs of use. The top is neat with slight discolouration. Small tear in the veneer at the edge. On the top here and there light small bumps under the veneer (barely visible, only with grazing light). On the top of the block some dark circles are visible. Small damage on the left corner of the block. No restorations performed, only polished with wax. Two missing handles were made by furniture maker rien de vos amsterdam. To date, the two bolts for attaching the bar between the two leg elements are missing. The original nuts in the bar have an english thread and suitable bolts are hard to find.
