Jacques Hitier desk model "Multitable" published by Multiplex

Jacques hitier. Office for multiplex, 1958. The veneer is discoloured in places, with many missing pieces. Second-hand condition to be used. Bureau circa 1950 by jacques hitier edited by multiplex, in multipli and frene plating composed of three drawers on the front and a side. Straight base in black lacquered steel joined by a spacer. Laminate top, rectangular handles in black lacquered steel. French work carried out in the 1950s. Dimensions: h 75 X w 108 X d 54 cm. Jacques hitier (1917-1999) was a decorator and furniture designer. After the second world war, he created industrial furniture for small communities and housing, which he presented at the salon des artistes décorateurs and the salon des arts ménagers. He was influenced by rené gabriel and marcel gascouin. Creator of serial furniture, combining functionality and elegance, he collaborated with the industrialist tubauto for fifteen years, imagining furniture in metal tube associated with wood, fabric or rattan. The multitable desk referenced in pierre gencey's book (p. 136/137) is one of his great successes, the most diffused. More info.
