Pair of two Vallauris slipware bowls circa 1955–1965: a square wheat ear bowl on a straw background and a leaf-shaped bowl with a raised lemon. The leaf is stamped "Luc Vallauris": a reference to one of the many workshops active in Vallauris in the 1950s–1970s, at the time of the rise of artistic pottery in this region. The wheat ear bowl is stamped Vallauris. This type of piece with naturalistic motifs (fruit, foliage, etc.) is characteristic of the Midi-Modern taste, very fashionable in the PACA region at that time. The raised lemon is a nod to Mediterranean culture, very popular with lovers of retro design and charming decorative tableware. (typical of the post-Picasso Vallauris style, when many small workshops produced objects for decorative purposes). Wheat ears: 13 x 13 cm, the leaf 18 cm long, 11 cm wide. Both are about 1 cm thick. Good condition, some small chips due to wear (see photo).
