Magnificent english navy chest (bristol) painted on the top of an armada of boats under sail. On the front, the coat of arms of the family is painted with the inscription "urbs prima in indis", in other words "the first city in india". Probably a work of the late 18th or 19th century. Very decorative but also very practical (see dimension below). The trunk is made of wood, reinforced underneath and on the high edges inside. It is covered with black tarpa paint for sealing and on the edges of the lid have been added leather protections (which have dried over time but are still mostly present). On each side, a handle in perfect condition. They fulfill their role to move the trunk (be careful, however, not to wear it when it is full). It is in very good general condition. A few small shards of paint, a few torn pieces of leather, a few places where wear and tear are visible. But this chest lived a long life before it reached you. It has served as a bar (its height is perfect for this) and a toy box in recent years. It remains beautiful and very solid and will last for a very long time! I can only encourage you to see the photos that follow. Dimensions: Outside. Height: 50.5 cm; length: 82.5 cm; depth: 50.5 cm. Inside: Height: 43 cm; length: 75.5 cm; depth: 47 cm. Weight: about 5 to 7 kg.
