Vintage 1950 octagonal metal cookie tin, decorated with Japanese orientalist scenes with shiny iridescent reflections. A handle allows you to lift the lids. White to light blue background with black surfaces in which Asian decorations and characters appear. Marking below: by appointment to her majesty the queen. Cookies manufacturer. Peek, Frean & Co. Ltd, London SE 16, England. For the story: in 1821, the three peek brothers established a tea importing company, founded under the name peek brothers and co., in the east end of london. the biscuit company was created in 1857 in collaboration with the miller pastry chef george hender frean, husband of hannah peek.
