Fishing storage chest wicker fisherman's stool

This beautiful fishing chest that also serves as a seat gave me a lot of work! When I hunted for it, it did not look great but I knew that it would still delight lovers of wicker and vintage as original and aesthetic storage: sewing box or drawing material, end of sofa that will also serve as an extra seat... After dusting, I washed it, then brushed it with white vinegar with injection into the beetle holes (this is my natural method to replace the chemical insecticide), especially since it also revives the colors of the wicker strands. I doubled or replaced a few broken wicker strands with strands salvaged from an old broken seat. Then I passed a light layer of varnish on the wood and wicker and painted and varnished the interior (some parts) in black to give it a youthful look, hide some indelible stains. Then it was necessary to redo the irrecoverable seat (skaï and new nails and recovery board). I did not put back the only latch that was still functional for several reasons (not very useful if used as a sewing box or decorative storage inside and not want to damage my pretty skaï with a rusty fitting), but I can provide it with it. But even with all this, obviously, he still has many marks of his previous lives, he is sixty anyway! And we love this patina! It is still very strong and stable, but therefore has various and numerous marks on the wood and wicker, surface corrosion on the metal parts. The bottom latch is not very functional, it opens as soon as you shake the basket a little. Inside, the uprights are made of raw wood, sometimes not even planed, a sign that it is a craft work. The bottom has many marks of "blows" (fishing reels thrown in I imagine). It is 38 cm wide, 27 cm deep, 40 cm high and weighs about 2 kg.
