Old english silver milk pot Epns

Vintage silver english milk pot made in sheffield, england. Very good quality. Height 7.5cm width 10.5 cm base 7 cm. These pieces were a common object in hotels in the 1960s/70s. Sheffield has its origins in england. It spread following the industrial revolution of the 19th century. The english parliament began regulating sheffield's production in 1784, requiring punching, which would identify, among other things, the producers. In 1840, mr elkington patented the plate of silver by galvanoplasty and became the present-day sheffield...the epns punch indicates that it is a silver nickel item (an alloy made of copper and a small proportion of nickel and zinc) plated silver.
