Greek artist of armenian origin, born in greece in 1957, he exhibited several times in athens and won the 1st prize of the 18th alexandria biennial. His expressionist work, remarkable for its colors and contrasts, is appreciated and many exhibitions are dedicated to him in greece (athens, thessaloniki, xanthi) but also in paris, vienna, cyprus, monte-carlo. The minsky gallery in paris devoted an exhibition and a retrospective entitled "the spectators" to him, at the espace richaud in versailles, revealing him as the painter of faces: "in his paintings, the painter works on the border between the real and the imaginary and strives to depict the faces he meets in cinemas, in public spaces, in the subway, each face offering itself to him like an open book. He therefore puts his gaze in front of life itself, in its diversity and richness. These figures, most of which arise from his memory, seem to be in search of a dream or in search of an imaginary space, like the eyes of the spectators riveted on the screen. But here, it is the artist's very point of view that screens the emotions that these unknown faces go through. These are shapes, colors that almost look like masks and that perhaps hide a certain theatricality. Each canvas fits into the next to form a sequence of colors, emotions, variations, inscribing the gesture of the painter in a continuity. Édouard sacaillan, for whom "painting is the mastery of emotions", depicts dazzling beings who, reflecting his own career, are staring at us: all these souls who stare at us finally project us into.
