Solid wood carved stepladder, Alps, 20th century

Solid wood stepladder with an openwork back decorated with symmetrical scrolls and a central cutout in the shape of a stylized spade. The decoration, inspired by Alpine folk art, combines traditional symbolism with rustic elegance. The polygonal seat rests on four slightly oblique turned legs. This type of seat was frequently used in mountain interiors or inns, combining everyday use with sculpted expressiveness. Seat height: 46 cm. Origin: Swiss Alps circa 1960.
