Remarkable travel trunk by moritz medler 1890 in its original colours. Splendid brass and copper studded fittings and closures. Leather ledges. Inside canvas. Brass rivets with initials from the manufacturer, one of the masters of the late 19th century. In good condition with travel labels and some traces left by time and travel. Very large storage capacity. No keys. Rare object. Perfect for decoration or storage. The suitcase is made from natural fibres treated according to a method invented by the moritz medler brand that made the trunk waterproof. This innovation was highly sought after as travel was often done by boat. Inside the lid are badges/medallions marked in german. Translation "for commercial merit - given by king albert of saxony (reign 1873 -1902)" The company, founded in 1850 by moritz medler, manufactured suitcases and leather goods in its leipzig factory. Since 1889, he has provided the saxon king as a purveyor to the court. One of the most well-known leather goods companies in germany. Approximate dimensions: 105x50x55 cm.
