Soup tureen, Art Deco, silver-plated brass, Norblin, Poland, 1930s

An interwar soup tureen from the 1930s, made by the Norblin factory in Warsaw from silver-plated brass, is an example of Polish craftsmanship in the spirit of Art Deco. The symmetrical, rounded body stands on a wide, flared base and is topped with a domed lid with a stepped, stylised handle. The handles, gently curved and smoothly integrated with the form, emphasise the aerodynamic character of the era.
