Very beautiful obus vase in glazed stoneware made by Michel Pointu, in the Art Céram Grand Feu workshop, in Puisaye. This piece features a particularly original sculptural silhouette, composed of a tall truncated conical base topped with a generously rounded upper part. Its geometric and streamlined lines give it a resolutely modernist aesthetic, characteristic of creations from the 1950s-1960s. Its brown-violet glazing, with subtle shades of anthracite gray and purple, presents a finely speckled, almost satin-like surface. The slight variations in tone highlight the volumes and elegance of this architectural form. Michel Pointu (born in 1925) belongs to an important dynasty of ceramists from Puisaye. Grandson of Jean Pointu and son of Léon Pointu, he continues a family tradition deeply linked to the revival of artistic stoneware initiated by Jean Carriès. In 1951, he founded the Art Céram Grand Feu workshop with his wife Denise Pointu-Detraz, trained at the Beaux-Arts of Bourges, located in Arquian, near Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. Together, they developed a production of stoneware with modern shapes and sought-after glazes. The workshop continued its activity until 1963. Michel Pointu and the Art Céram workshop are referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye, de Jean Carriès à nos jours – Marques et signatures, " dedicated to the history of potters and ceramists in the region. A beautiful collectible piece, representative of the revival of post-war French ceramics and the craftsmanship of the Pointu family. Dimensions: Height: 24 cm. Diameter: 11 cm. Condition: perfect condition. Signature: signed Art Céram.
