Description
Patron of the peasants of the andean south, san isidro the plowman (1082 - 1172) is frequently represented, after his canonization in 1697, accompanied by the miracles that he caused, in particular, causing water to spring forth. It is this detail that we observe in the right corner at the bottom of the painting (the animals are drinking). The cuzco school is an artistic movement of catholic tradition, developed in the viceroyalty of peru during the 16th and 18th centuries, and particularly in cuzco, former capital of the inca empire. His style is imbued with spanish baroque influences imbued with indian and peruvian aesthetics. The conservation of the painting was carried out at the national museum of buenos aires in argentina.
