Sofa "Denis" by Guillerme and Chambron for "Your House" circa 1960

Very comfortable sofa by guillerme and chambron in solid oak and tawny leather. The high back is composed of ten strong curved bars to hold and fit the thick cushions. The wide upper crossbeam returns by rounding on the sides as on the old shepherdesses called "eared". The façade rests on three legs, a slight drop in the low crossbeam lightens the structure. Reinforced armrests and seat in thick foam cushions. Crossing the armrest, a wide strip of tawny leather, stitch cellar, is held by a turned oak stick putting in tension the side cushion. The fabric in good condition seems original, a simple cleaning would suffice. This sofa has not been used much and has crossed its 60/70 years advantageously. Length: 165 cm - depth: 87 cm - height: 79 cm. French designers jacques chambron (1914-2001) and robert guillerme (1913-1990) began their creations after the war. Robert guillerme had studied design and architecture at the école boule (first in his class in 1934). Jacques chambron was a graduate of the school of applied arts in reims. During the second world war, the two men had met in captivity in germany, and had formed a great friendship based on their passion for interior design. In 1949 the two men met the cabinetmaker émile dariosecq, owner of a workshop in lille and decided to create their own company called "votre maison" Guillerme worked as a designer, to create design and functional pieces, chambron as decorator and commercial and the dariosecq workshop manufactured the pieces. "your house" has produced more than two thousand models, leaving a lasting mark in the world of design.
