KS 172 H chairs by Karl-Erik Ekselius for Joc Möbel Ab, 1970s

Vintage executive office chair/armchair model KS 172 H, designed by the famous Swedish designer Karl-Erik Ekselius for the manufacturer JOC Möbel AB (Vetlanda, Sweden) in the 1970s. Upholstered and featuring decorative buttons (tufting) on the backrest and seat. Contrasting materials, a blend of a soft, padded organic fabric shell and an industrial, shiny structure made of die-cast aluminium and chrome-plated steel, perfectly characterise this style. Tufted work with decorative buttons on the backrest and seat adds volume and that typical vintage charm, inspired by the great classics of corporate design of the time (such as the famous Time Life Lobby Chair by Charles and Ray Eames or the P128 series models by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno). The armrests feature a continuous geometric curve in brushed aluminium with upper padding. The base has a swivel mechanism with a 5-star structure on castors.
