Description
This pretty old cast iron stove dates from the end of the 19th century. Made of enameled cast iron in a dark blue, almost black color. It is also called salamandre in reference to the product line created by jean baptiste godin in the mid-19th century. It is installed in a fireplace hearth, often with an enamel covering to integrate it perfectly with the fireplace. It is functional and the door is controlled by counterweights hidden on the rear panel; an ash drawer is located at the foot. It can be used as a decorative item or put back into service. It requires good cleaning and some unglazed parts need to be polished.
