History: The french industrial designer jean-louis domecq (1920-1983) is known for his jieldé lamps, which are recognized today as a symbol of the french industrial arts. In 1950, frustrated by the lack of heavy lamps suitable for the workshops he managed at the time, domecq decided to design and produce his own industrial lamp. In the past, the lack of durable synthetic insulation materials made the cables of adjustable lamps break easily, causing many accidents. Domecq needed something he could fully articulate without interfering with the electrical wiring. The result, known as standard (1950), was a heavy steel lamp that could be turned and flipped in different positions and its copper contacts ensured its rotation up to the mechanical limit of each joint. Domecq spent the next two years perfecting the design of industrialized production and founded jieldé in lyon in 1953, in order to manufacture and distribute its lamps, both in the form of street lamps and desk lamps.
