Vintage two-light chandelier in cast and turned brass, featuring an elegant and functional design. Two scroll arms rise from a central baluster shaft topped with a pine cone finial, each supporting a bobeche with fluting and a cylindrical binet. The circular moulded base with fillets complements the bobeches with its fluted decoration. A remarkable feature of this piece is the integration, at the height of the pedestal, of pivoting wick trimmers—these special scissors allow for cutting and collecting the charred wick of the candle without extinguishing the flame—as well as a scissor holder with articulated blades. Together, they form a complete and self-sufficient object for candle maintenance. Before the invention of fully burning wicks in the 19th century, wick trimmers were an essential everyday accessory: the wick of candles burned unevenly and needed to be trimmed regularly to maintain a clear flame. This type of chandelier with integrated wick trimmers is now sought after for its rarity.
