Important domed chest on oak legs of the 18th century that belonged to the swedish spice merchant johan eckerman. German type, this chest is dated 1776 and inlaid on the front of a two-tone eight-pointed star (rose des vents). The sides of this trunk are decorated with starry footprints, these motifs seem to be oriental, surmounted by a cross, frieze carved at the base. Beautiful hinges in period ironwork, we note that the interior lock is missing. Very nice original condition! It was simply treated with fungicide and insecticide before being cleaned and waxed, it required very little restoration (photo of restorations on request).
