The 'Okulus' vase from the 1970s is an example of pressed glass produced by HSG Ząbkowice. The cylindrical form, slightly narrowing towards the base, is made of colourless glass with high transparency and a cool shade. The surface is decorated with vertical grooves interwoven with wavy, organic indentations, creating a dynamic pattern and emphasising the texture of the material. The base features multifaceted, geometric cuts that enhance stability and visually intensify the play of light on the glass. The whole piece is characterised by a shiny, clear finish, free of colour accents. On the edge and lower part, there are delicate signs of use in the form of small chips, appropriate for authentic vintage from the era. The vase is in very good condition, with no signs of repair or restoration – it presents the original character of the 1970s. This item tells the story of Polish modernism at the end of the 20th century – a bold experiment with texture, light, and the possibilities of serial glass production. The glassy surface seems to evoke the sound of Silesian glassworks: the play of light on the surface brings to mind the moment when a glow of morning light passes through the transparent material. The sculptural surface breaks the rays, creating rhythmic, graphic reflections – even empty, this vase seems to stop the flow of air, as if inspired by nature and the process of 'water freezing in motion.' The vase will look good on a minimalist console, a light wooden table, or in spaces arranged in the spirit of mid-century modern – where the structure of the material and skilfully played light take centre stage. It can be paired with a single branch, an ascetic bouquet, or left as a free-standing accent against simple fabrics and ceramics in neutral shades. It is worth combining it with lamps with milky shades or darker, black details to bring out the contrast and deepen the impression of the play of light on the glass texture. The vase is made of pressed glass and does not require special care. It is best to clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth to maintain the shine and clarity of the material.
