As far as italian space age goes, giuliana grammigna and sergio mazza's micol lamp is one of the finer examples. It consists of a vertical cylinder with a disc at each end, all in chrome, upon which stands an opaline sphere. This being the space age, the chrome doesn't stop there, but instead the opaline sphere's top is cut out, and in goes a concave chrome mirror with a partially chromed lightbulb. The result is reminiscent of a 1950 studebaker, or a jet engine. Whatever it is, this floor lamp appears to be ready for lift-off. Thanks to a two-button switch, the bulbs inside the opaline and the bulb on top can be operated independently. A table lamp version is also available, do check it out.
