West German Mid-Century Modern Stoneware Vase by Bay Keramik, 1950s. A striking and highly sculptural West German ceramic vase produced by Bay Keramik during the 1950s, featuring an elegant low-relief decor inspired by African tribal pottery traditions. The vase displays a beautifully balanced architectural silhouette with deeply carved vertical fluting and faceted geometric detailing around the shoulder. Its softly mottled matte glaze in grey and cream tones creates a refined textured surface with exceptional depth and tactility, contrasting beautifully with the vibrant glossy yellow glazed interior. An excellent example of early Bay Keramik production, this piece reflects the postwar European fascination with ethnographic and tribal-inspired forms interpreted through the lens of Mid-Century Modern design. Marked on the underside: “Bay W. Germany” Form number: 587 30. A sophisticated decorative object that works equally well in Scandinavian Modern, Brutalist, Japandi, Wabi-Sabi, or minimalist interiors. Dimensions: Height: 30 cm (11.82 in.) Diameter: 19 cm (7.49 in.) Great vintage condition with very minor glazing flaws inherent to production and age, none of which detract from the overall appearance of the piece.
