Old lime pot, origin thailand. It was used to store the lime paste used for traditional betel quid. The lime pot was a prime object in the home. Closely linked to the destiny of families, prosperity was read in the accumulation of lime on the edges and if it were to break, an offering was made of the debris so as not to suffer from a bad omen. Here in the shape of an elephant, it is also a tribute to one of the revered animals of asia. The stylized character and warm appearance of the earth make it a timeless and universal object. The very beautiful work of the material through the modeling and the chiseled decoration make this piece a real sculpture which will find its place among lovers of pieces steeped in history and authenticity.
