Giuseppe Manfredi (Seravezza, Lucca, 1934 - Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, 1987) Oil on canvas panel depicting a bouquet of flowers, original work signed and dated 1972. Dimensions of the painting: 70 X 50 cm - Dimensions of the frame: 98 X 78 cm. For safety reasons, the work is shipped without glass. Giuseppe Manfredi's research focused on the still life genre, and his painting style is closely related to that of Morandi. Like the great Bolognese master, Manfredi seeks to capture the very essence of things (the noumenon) on the canvas, while not straying from sensory reality (the phenomenon). This is why he engages in a deep reflection on objects in order to obtain the most vivid image. In this process, the painter is guided by the light that bathes the composition, leading him to reduce objects to their very essence. The result is an almost diaphanous image, yet one of striking vitality and movement, infused with genuine existential (and luminous) vibrations. The formal perfection and balance of the composition constitute another fundamental element, fitting into the great tradition of Italian painting. Giuseppe Manfredi was born in Serravezza di Lucca in 1934 and passed away in Montecatini in 1987. His pictorial work primarily focused on still life, of which he created numerous variations. His style is inspired by Giorgio Morandi for this same exploration of the essence of things, through the action of light.
