Vintage pair of bookends in fossilised coral agate | Stone disc-shaped bookends on a black marble base

A pair of sculptural bookends made of polished discs in fossilised coral/agate, mounted on black marble bases and enhanced with a cream inlay. The faces of the discs reveal rich natural patterns of fossilised coral: organic circular and honeycomb textures in warm shades of brown and grey. The matte black reverse of each disc creates a striking two-tone effect depending on the orientation. An imposing decorative object, worthy of an art gallery, for a library or office. Overall vintage condition. Please note a fine visible crack on the face of one stone disc (see close-up photos); it appears to be a superficial crack in the natural stone rather than a break, but please examine the images carefully before purchasing. The bases show slight signs of wear due to age. No chips are reported on the edges of the stones.
