A rare bar cabinet designed by Illum Wikkelsø and produced by C.F. Christensen in Denmark during the 1960s. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the cabinet has a restrained exterior with carefully selected grain continuing across the doors. Even the back is fully finished in rosewood, allowing the cabinet to be placed freely within a room. Two lockable doors open to reveal an elaborate mirrored bar interior with etched geometric decoration, metal bottle holders, black shelving and a textured glass shelf. Integrated lighting illuminates the interior, while a pull-out rosewood serving surface provides additional space for preparing drinks. The sculptural base with gently curved rails and slender tapered legs gives the cabinet a light appearance. Its combination of a restrained exterior and detailed, functional interior reflects Wikkelsø’s refined approach to Danish modern design.
