Ceramic vase with a handle, German design, 1960s, made in West Germany

This ceramic vase was made in the 1960s in Germany. A striking mid-century vase – the ‘W. Germany’ mark on the base clearly confirms its origin. Its slender form, with a distinctive handle and a slightly tapering neck, is very typical of functional designs from that period. The greatest strength of this piece lies in its glaze – a contrasting, organic composition of deep brown and a flowing, creamy-white layer with a slightly grainy, ‘lava-like’ texture.
