Distinctive Brutalist lounge chair with matching ottoman, crafted in solid oak and upholstered in its original natural goat hide, dating from approximately the 1960s. The chair features a substantial solid oak frame with a tall, gently inclined backrest, broad horizontal armrests, and an elaborate lower construction. Notable details include the scalloped front rail beneath the seat, block-shaped front supports, and curved rear uprights. The loose seat and back cushions are upholstered in naturally mottled goat hide, complemented by upholstered side sections that give the chair an almost wingback-like silhouette. The reverse is also well considered, with the hide-covered back framed by exposed solid oak. The matching ottoman uses the same oak and goat hide, with rounded legs, slender stretchers, and traditional webbing beneath the upholstered top. The design combines robust construction with elements of Scandinavian and European rustic modernism from the 1960s. The original goat hide has developed a warm and varied patina, with natural differences in colour, texture, and hair direction. The oak shows age-related patina and light traces of use.
