Description
Pair of par chairs in rosewood-shaped wood, the cuff back supported by a moulded winding carved with leafy garlands, a diced belt with foil and tapered feet with rough grooves topped with a ring. Stamped IB Lelarge. Louis XVI era. These chairs were used by women to kneel and watch the game in the playrooms, present only in the larger houses. John The Baptist III Lelarge (1743-1802), received master on February 1, 1775, was among the best carpenters in sieges of the reign of Louis XVI. The King of Portugal is included in his clientele. Very good condition, worn green velvet.
