Traditional Luba comb / Congo made of wood and woven wicker.

Superb traditional afro comb originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), representative of the artisanal know-how of the Luba ethnic group, also present in other cultural groups in the region (Yaka, Pende…). Both a utilitarian and decorative object, it stands out for its beautiful finesse of execution. The teeth are made of fine, rigid stems of wood or bamboo, perfectly aligned in a fan shape, in a tightly woven work of plant fibres from osier. The whole is enhanced by geometric patterns obtained through the interlacing of fibres dyed in shades of pink, green, and ochre yellow. The handle is topped with a braided chevron border, ensuring both grip and decorative finish. 9 cm wide (at its widest) 8 cm high. In very good condition, with no missing or broken teeth, intact structure, and perfectly preserved weaving. The colours remain vibrant, highlighting the richness of the pattern.
