Description
Babanki Tungo wooden chef's stools from southwest Cameroon from the first half of the 20th century. Made with the greatest care and artistry, these stools have deep cultural and symbolic meaning in their design: the circular shape of the stool evokes the unity and harmony valued in tribal communities. The openwork carving of animal motifs illustrates not only the tribe's respect for nature, but also the spiritual and practical role that animals play in their lives. They were reserved for important people. Good condition.
