Exceptional Bauhaus UFO pendant light produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s, featuring a striking circular construction in chrome-plated and lacquered metal with textured glass. The futuristic disc-shaped silhouette reflects the progressive aesthetic of Central European interwar Modernism, combining Bauhaus functionalism with Art Deco and Machine Age influences. The chandelier is constructed around a broad circular chrome-plated body complemented by a white lacquered reflector. Six light sources are arranged around the central structure, while a large textured glass diffuser forms the underside of the fixture. This sophisticated construction creates two distinct lighting effects. Light is softly diffused downward through the textured glass while the white upper reflector produces an atmospheric indirect glow around the perimeter of the chandelier. The contrast between highly polished chrome, white lacquer and textured glass gives the fixture a remarkably architectural appearance. Despite being produced during the 1930s, its streamlined UFO-like silhouette anticipates many Space Age lighting designs that would appear decades later. The generous 51 cm / 20.08 in diameter gives the chandelier substantial visual presence without making the fixture excessively deep. The lamp has been carefully refurbished and fitted with new electricity while preserving its authentic vintage character. Minor signs of use and age remain visible and are consistent with its age. It is fitted with six E26/E27 sockets and is compatible with US electrical systems.
