Vintage set of two Cor Alons chairs – bent plywood & blue and cream skai upholstery – 1950s Dutch design

These chairs feature the elegant simplicity and functionalist clarity that define Alons’ work. Cor Alons (1892–1967) was an interior architect, industrial designer, furniture maker, and long-time lecturer at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. A leading figure in Dutch functionalism, he created furniture with clean lines, honest construction, and high-quality materials in refined colour combinations. In 1929, Alons became a professor at the Royal Academy and mentored iconic designers such as Rob Parry. For his 70th birthday in 1962, he was honoured with a major exhibition at the Gemeentemuseum The Hague. Today, his work is part of the Centraal Museum Utrecht collection.
