Spanish walnut cabinet: BARGUEGNO 2nd part of the 17th century

Spanish utility furniture, 2nd half of the 17th century. The upper body has flat applications of cut-out metal on a red fabric background. Important hinged locks and iron handles on the sides. It opens into a flap serving as a writing desk, revealing a set of drawers with architectural shapes in gilded wood with bone columns. On either side of these drawers, two doors are hinged revealing niches. The upper body rests on a column base connected by a spacer resting on pads. In the upper part, two pulls ending in scallop shells serve as supports for the writing desk. The whole is walnut, usual restorations especially with regard to the base, part of which has been changed.
