Chandelier with Fan, Griffins, and Rooster. Louis XIII Restoration Period. 1814-1830. France. Gilded brass. An exceptional and extremely rare piece, complete with its fan hidden in the handle with a lid. The structure consists of two lights with arms adorned with acanthus leaves and chiselled bobeches, resting on two griffins, around a quadrangular axis topped with a rooster. At the back is the hollow tubular handle in which the fan is housed: it should be noted that the sliding mechanism that allows the fan to be deployed is no longer functional. It is therefore necessary to slide it manually upwards after opening the lid to partially extract it. This manipulation must be done with the utmost care as the structure of the fan is particularly fragile and it no longer retains its full integrity (see photos). The cylinder can be removed from its base support with a slight rotation after unscrewing the rooster and removing the lid support. The two bobeches are removable. The whole is screwed onto a very finely chiselled base. Do not unscrew this fixing axis as it may cause a break in the stem. It should also be noted that originally the two light arms slid using a knob fixed at the back, but this is no longer present (see photos circled in red). Finally, there is a small crack inside one of the two bobeches (see photos). For the rest, no accidents to report apart from some age-related marks without consequence. Height: 26 cm. Width: 12 cm. Diameter of the base: 12 cm. Height of the tube: 20 cm. Weight: 700 g. Shipping will be perfectly protected, tracked, and insured via recommended Colissimo.
