Late 1970s hand-thrown stoneware vase by the Spanish ceramic workshop Porta Celi. The rounded form is decorated with a finely balanced palette of chalky, mottled glazes in aubergine, pale lime green, soft olive green, cream, and subtle touches of light blue. The abstract decoration offers a modern interpretation of ancient Mediterranean decorative motifs, a recurring source of inspiration in Spanish ceramics of the 1970s. Its earthy palette and organic graphic decoration reflect the broader European decorating trends of the 1970s, when natural materials, handcrafted finishes, and references to vernacular and ancient cultures became central to interior design. The underside bears the printed Porta Celi – Spain factory mark together with the decorator's hand-painted signature. A characteristic example of Spanish studio pottery from the late 1970s, equally suited to Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Mediterranean, or contemporary interiors. Dimensions. Height: 7.88 in. (20 cm) Diameter: 7.09 in. (18 cm) Condition. Excellent vintage condition, as new.
