Large antique ornithological print depicting a bird of paradise, after Jacques Barraband. Plate titled: “The little Emerald Bird of Paradise – No. 4” Very beautiful old engraving with delicately faded colours, featuring a superb decorative presence. The subject, very refined, represents a perched bird of paradise, with long powder pink and cream plumage. It includes the old mentions: “Barraband pinx.t” And “from the printing house of Langlois”. This naturalist plate evokes the great French ornithological publications of the early 19th century, in the spirit of the works of François Levaillant. A very beautiful piece for a curiosity cabinet decoration, classic or eclectic interior. Paper dimensions: Height: 57.7 cm. Width: 38 cm. Engraving dimensions: 54 X 35.5 cm. Old condition with visible signs of age: yellowing of the paper, foxing, small tears and wear along the edges (see photos). The whole retains much charm and a very beautiful decorative quality. Sold unframed.
