Round Art Nouveau pewter box with floral motifs

Period: ca. 1900-1920. This lid box is typical of the art nouveau period. It is made of tin which has been decorated with floral motifs in high relief of an iris and wheat stalks in the technique of repoussé. The lower part has a hammered effect decoration. The box was probably used as a pillbox or candy box. The lid has an engraved signature starting with a ch., the rest is illegible. Status: good. Aged patina. The area around the signature has been polished and is brighter than the rest of the surface. Dimensions: 3.5 cm high, 10.5 cm diameter.
