Sculptural tripod stool by Gabriel Lucas, Brittany – circa 1970
Tripod stool made of solid wood by Gabriel Lucas, a clog artist from Saint-Gilles-du-Mené in Brittany: second half of the 20th century. Its particularly original construction directly reflects the world of the clog maker: the three legs are sculpted and hollowed out in the shape of clogs and support a thick circular top with beautiful grain. Gabriel Lucas is listed in an old guide to the Arts and Crafts of Brittany, which highlights his artistic work around the traditional clog. Original label "Saboterie Gabriel Lucas – St-Gilles-du-Mené – Brittany" preserved under the top. Beautiful patina and signs of use consistent with its age, including rings on the top (see photos). Diameter of the top: 30 cm Height: 38 cm
