Magnificent table lamp model NA 3972 by Josep Maria Magem for Madom. Spain 1971. Very rare and limited production model. Visible among others at the Design Museum of Barcelona. (Photos) Large sphere in brown lacquered metal. It rests on a cylindrical base in brown lacquered metal, covered in velvet. The sphere, featuring a wide opening, allows light to pass through easily. It can be positioned in various ways on its base, providing different possibilities and allowing for light orientation. A slot all around lets a gentle beam of light through. The base houses the switch, a dimmer. It allows for intensity adjustment. Chocolate brown colour. Height 36 cm. Diameter 29 cm. Excellent condition, may however show some minor signs of wear. Nothing to report. Josep Maria Magem: Josep Maria Magem (Sabadell, 1941-2017) developed his work in the field of interior architecture and furniture design, particularly in lighting. From the 1960s, within the company Marset, then the company Madom. Magem created a series of very modern pieces with complex geometric shapes, mainly metallic, where chrome and the particular use of colour and finishes stand out. Magem defined himself as a designer craftsman. The context in which he developed his work at that time, the lack of material and productive resources made it difficult to achieve the formal and technical challenges he proposed. Magem applied material manipulation processes to artisanal techniques and managed to produce pieces of great technical complexity and formal beauty.
