Set of 4 Strip chairs by Gijs Bakker for Castelijn, The Netherlands 1970's

An iconic chair, the 'strip chair', designed by famous dutch designer gijs bakker for castelijn. It was released in 1974. The chair is made out of 6 bended strips of llacquered laminated wood. These are outstanding pieces in their simplicity. The underlying idea was to reduce the complexity of the chair's form, that gave also a modern look that suited that era in time perfectly. This chair is a stackable chair and we have these as a set of 4 available. All chairs are in a very good condition with some signs of age and use. Seat height: 44 cm.
