Takeshi Okazaki (Takeshi Okazaki: 1936-2021) Lineage: Sakunami system Master: Shoji Suzuki Disciple: [Person] On October 28, 1936, he was born in Taiwan as the second son of Okazaki Ushimatsu. I returned to Japan in 1946, but lost my parents in the following year. I broke my body in 1954, but I started working at a woodworking shop in Togatta when I was 27 years old in 1962. I mainly grinded furniture parts such as table legs. In 1971, he left Togatta Woodworking and moved to Tsukinoki, Shibata-cho, Shibata-gun. From July of the same year, he became a craftsman of Akira Suzuki in Sendai, and commuted to work by train from his home. Kokeshi studied under Shoji Suzuki and began to make the Takahashi Spookichi type. The works have been lined up at Kagu-an in Sendai since 1972. In April 1973, I moved to Tsurugaya, Miyagino Ward, Sendai City. In September 1979, I closed the woodland business and worked at a local newspaper dealer. In June 1985, we built a new house and moved to Nanko Taihigashi, Izumi Ward, Sendai City. I retired from a newspaper store in 1997. He died on August 22, 2021. I'm 86 years old. [Work] Kokeshi was produced for 8 years from 1972 to 1954. He inherited Shoji Suzuki's Spoichi type.
