Antique walnut commode with bronze lion mask handles, 1900s The commode features four graduated drawers, each framed by relief mouldings and fitted with cast bronze handles adorned with an original design and lock plates. The handles are particularly decorative, incorporating motifs of lion masks, curled foliage, and leaf ornaments, characteristic of the historicist taste of the period. The rectangular case has moulded architectural details, a projecting cornice, and a base, resting on two distinctive turned feet at the front and two block feet at the back. The warm honey-brown patina and polished surface highlight the beautiful natural variations of the walnut. It is a very refined piece of furniture with excellent construction and a high level of craftsmanship that gives the item a noble and affected appearance. Very good overall condition consistent with age and use; slight surface wear with a splendid patina. Presence of woodworm holes, mainly on the back and left feet (visible in the photos), to be treated preferably. Measurements: Width 107 cm x depth 58 cm x height 99 cm Made in Italy. Period: 1900s.
